As part of AYAT Education’s commitment to raise awareness, community engagement and support capacity development of our national health professionals on the issues of Cancer and Palliative Care in Bangladesh, we (with support from National and International Experts) have taken up a multi- year program that had started with the slogan ‘Dignifying Life through Palliative Care’. The first round was incepted in Dhaka division (January 2018). Our First Program, in January 2018, comprised of a Walkathon with more than 500 participants, in partnership with Jago Foundation and Apollo Hospitals. We did a Round Table Discussion at The Daily Star premises, with National and International Experts. We also successfully conducted the ELNEC Training Program for more than 100 public sector nurses, including Dhaka Medical College Hospital, National Institute of Cancer and Research and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. ELNEC( End of Life Nursing Education Consortium) project is an American National end-of-life Education Program administered by City of Hope (COH) and the American Association of Nursing Colleges. This is the second session of our 5-year commitment to create a footprint of Capacity Building of our Healthcare Professionals in Cancer and Palliative Care in Bangladesh. This session includes Conducting Tumor Boards and Surgeries with Experts at various hospitals in Sylhet for knowledge transfer and capacity development, running the ELNEC project to certify 50 nurses and a cancer seminar.
